Media Lens on NY Times’ comparison of Venezuela to Iraq

The Media Lens editors are calling Simon Romero’s recent NY Time’s article “[o]ne of the more dishonest abuses of Iraq Body Count’s numbers”. Joe Emersberger’s letter to the NYT’s editors provides some arguments to back up the claim. As for one of his arguments, though, Emersberger ends up hoisting himself on his own petard. CNN may have chosen not to show the morgue photos, but saying that the images “could not have been shown in the US media” is false. The image is displayed alongside the very NYT article to which he is objecting.
