Chavez and leaders of Venezuela’s Jewish community to meet about alleged anti-semitism in state media
The AP is reporting that Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will be meeting with leaders of the Venezuelan Jewish community who are concerned about anti-Semitic content in state media. Details of the offending content were not provided, but the report notes that previous complaints have cited “cartoons in government-friendly newspapers and commentary on pro-Chavez websites”. “Government-friendly” and “pro-Chavez” are not “state media”, of course. As soon as I learn more about the nature of the current complaints, I’ll post an update.
