This call goes out to readers in the Champaign-Urbana area:

An apartment building on John Street burned down last week, leaving residents displaced. The News Gazette ran articles on the 15th, 16th, and 17th.

Because at least three of the victims are graduate students, The Graduate Employees’ Organization (GEO) is offering assistance. So far, one couple needs a place to stay between Aug. 10, when they must leave their temporary residence, and Aug. 20, when they can move in to a new place. Another resident has asked for containers (“travel cases, plastic storage boxes, or even laundry baskets”). I’ll be posting additional requests as they come in.

If you can help, please contact the GEO at geo@uigeo.org
